January 2019

January has been so good to me. I got back from Nepal jet lagged and wiped out. I needed two weeks to get back on a normal sleep schedule. That was crazy. But we have gotten so much snow and I have had the best weekends since returning from Nepal.

January 12th Amber and I headed up to the Alpine Loop to hike with our spikes. Little did we know we should have brought our snowshoes. The snow was more fresh than we were expecting and it made for a hard and annoying hiking day. We went up on the Alpine Loop road for a little more than 2 miles and then turned around and headed home. Moki didn't find the snow as annoying as us. She loved it.
January 19th we went back up to the Alpine Loop. This time with our snowshoes. There was so much snow. We hiked to the top of the road and wore ourselves out.
Unlike previous years snowmobilers had not yet come through and smashed down all the snow. We were shocked at how much more snow there was a week later.

My watch said we hiked 4.5 miles to get to the top. That is more than normal but we were weaving all over the road because there was so much snow.
It was a long hike and I was sweating like crazy. I was glad I had extra clothes to change into for the way down.
Cameras really don't do it justice.
We worked hard. At the end we had gone 8.79 miles in exactly 4 hours.
It was a gorgeous day and I am so glad we got out.

I got home and ran errands and then went to the UVU game with friends. I was so EXHAUSTED. I could not believe how tired my body was.

Monday was Human Rights Day and so I had a sleepover with Andrew Sunday night. He woke me up way too early but we had a fun day. We made breakfast, ran errands, snowshoed and swam. he wore me out!!!!! The snowshoeing with him was the highlight. Hannah came with us. We snowshoed up Rock Canyon and then rode sleds down. It was soooooooo fun!!!! He loved the sledding part.
Moki was beyond excited to be out in the snow.
Andrew did a great job. I forget how hard hiking is especially for little kids. He got tired fast but he was in good spirits.
 Hannah makes any adventure fun!
Then Andrew was done and I had to piggy back him for a second because we wanted to go higher up. He said he weighs 60lbs. That is heavy on your back in the snow!
Moki was as crazy as ever. She was having a blast!
Then we got to sled down and it was the best. Why have I never done that before?
I sure love this boy and his excitement for life.
He makes any day with him so fun.
He is so old now and so handsome. After we got back to the car we went back to my house and made grill cheese sandwiches. YUM! I could have taken a nap but instead we put on our suits and headed to the Rec center to get a little swimming in. We played hard for an hour and then headed back to Andrews house. It was a busy day that left me tired. I got home and went straight to a basketball game with no subs. It was actually a lot of fun but I was tired.

January 26th Amber and I spent Saturday morning hiking up Rock Canyon. We went to the campground. The trail is well used so we were able to hike in our microspikes. We hiked so fast and got a great workout. We hiked 6.5 miles and averaged 24 minute miles.

My dog
I live for these Saturdays out in the sun enjoying beautiful Utah.

There was so much snow at the campground. The most I have ever seen. It was crazy.
After I took the best two hour nap I have had in a long time. It was amazing.
