Fall Break Day 4

My last day on vacation, so sad. It was Saturday so we had Sariah's boys. We took them to Avila beach and the pier there to explore. Her boys were definitely over it, but they did a good job of hanging in there. The morning started with fog and rain but by the time we finished the sun was out.

The afternoon was spent with some down time and little kid soccer games. Sariah and I were able to sneak away again in the evening and go for a hike. We had put it off and were so glad. It is a hike that takes you up above Pismo and it is much better if you can see the ocean. The fog had melted away by the earlier afternoon so we got to see the ocean the entire time. So fun to have Sariah show me all her fun outdoor spots.

Afterwards we made dinner for her family and then snuck away for ice cream. I loved loved loved spending time with Sariah. She lives in such a beautiful place and enjoys such a unique life. It was so fun to catch glimpses of it all. I am definitely excited to go back if they will have, next time I will hopefully drive and bring my bikes!

Fall Break Day 3

We set out on another hike in the morning. We hiked on some hills in between San Lois Obispo and Pismo Beach. It was really foggy and so I didn't take any pictures. It was a great hike. Then we rode bikes from her house in Pismo Beach down to the pier. We watched surfers, got some lunch, saw some whales and dolphins and just hung out. It was cloud covered so perfect weather to just hang out.

We headed back down to the beach in the evening at low tide and walked along the beach so I could try and find sand dollars. There were so many. It was awesome! There were also so many clams. Pismo Beach is known for both. I loved the beach by the Pier it had the best sand and went along for a very long way. It was a really nice evening.

I didn't take many photos this day. I loved riding the beach cruiser around. There is something so magical about the beach and I was feeling it all day. It was another exhausting day!

Fall Break Day 2

Sariah and her family had just started a remodel and so I was so grateful they still let me come visit. It was a crazy time for them. We still did so much and I am so glad I decided to go.

We started Thursday morning with a hike up a mountain in San Luis Obispo. It was a nice incline with great views from the top.

In the afternoon Sariah has some appointments with her boys so I went and checked out Morro Rock.

In the evening we walked on the beach that is walking distance from her house. We enjoyed a beautiful evening with her boys.

It was an awesome first day and we had so much fun catching up!

Fall Break Day 1: HWY 1

This year I decided to go visit Sariah for fall break. We had the best time. I love how we catch up so easily. She was such a huge part of my life post mission at BYU. I am sad we only see each other about once a year and usually for a very short hike/visit. It was great to have so much time with her. I flew to San Francisco on Wednesday morning early. I got to fly from Provo which was amazing. I landed and picked up my rental car. I decided to take the scenic route to Pismo beach, where Sariah and her family live. I drove HWY 1 from half Moon Bay all the way down to Pismo. It was beautiful. It ended up taking a very long time but I really did enjoy it.

I took my time, I would have stopped more but I wanted to get to Sariah's by dinner. In the end I was still a little late for dinner. I stopped in Monterrey for lunch. I walked on Carmel Beach. It's a beautiful white sand beach. I stopped at Sand Dollar Beach and explored the low tide. Then I stopped where the elephant seals hang out. I would have loved to hike but there just wasn't time. It was a great trip but I was excited to get to Sariahs.

Timpanogos Again

I had the opportunity to hike Mount Timpanogos again in October with Eric and Jacquie Carter. It was a great Saturday. We went up the Aspen Grove side and then came down the American Fork side. It is really fun to do it that way because you get to see the entire mountain. Fall leaves were peaking so it was beautiful. The Aspen Grove side is all red and Orange and then the American Fork side is all greens and yellows. We had great weather all day. We also didn't start too early which I appreciated.

I didn't take many photos. We did it in the same amount of hiking time as I did with Erica and Amber. We went at a comfortable pace. It was really pleasant on the top, this surprised me because it was so late in the year. Looking down on Big Baldy was amazing.

The way down we got to enjoy all of the yellow and greens.

It was a great day. I felt great after which was nice. I love doing the hike in the fall but it is always risky to wait so late in the year because the weather is so unpredictable. Eric and Jacquie have been great morning hiking buddies all year. We never take pictures because it is so early. It was fun to put all those early morning training sessions to good use:)

October

I am going to some up the basics of October here, then I will make posts about some of the bigger happenings. It has finally started to cool down. This fall has been so so HOT! I survived cross country season, mutual on Wednesdays, fall break and hiking. It was a busy month but also a great one!

Andrew and I went to the Broadway musical The Lion King. We had to run from the car to the theater and then up four flights of stairs to get there on time:) It was such a fun night. The costumes, props and music were all amazing. It was a late night but it was so fun to spend it with this awesome kid. It was his birthday present. I can't believe he turns 10 this year!

One Sunday I grabbed Nancy and we went for a drive up the canyon. The leaves were absolutely amazing. Everyone else had the same idea, it was super crowded but it was a fun Sunday evening.

Moki and I got out and hiked some evenings after work. The end of the month even allowed us some snow hiking after a storm blew through one day. I love the cooler temperatures. They are perfect for hiking.

Appreciating the sunset coming out of rock canyon

Slate Canyon. Usually we hike this in the dark on Tuesday and Thursday mornings so it was fun to see the fall colors during the day.

The most perfect lighting up Slate Canyon.

Moki enjoying an evening hike.

It storm blew through one Sunday. The following day after work Moki and I hiked up rock canyon. We hit snow one mile up. We continued up the trial another mile and enjoyed the first signs of winter. It was so peaceful and beautiful. I love the first snow. It al melted but it was still amazing.

The last week of October Moki and I hiked everyday after work. It was great. Moki is showing her age though. She has been limping around since we finished hiking Friday. Amber and I hiked Saturday and I took Moki. Poor dog was limping the entire time. We turned around early. I am thinking it is just sore joints. I hate that she is getting old.

We haven't celebrated Andrew's birthday yet but we gave him his present. He was pretty excited. I wasn't there but Anthony shared a video. He looks so good in his new football jersey.

And to finish off the month a few favorites of Tyla that Jacklyn sent me. Aaron and Jacklyn will be moving real soon. I am so sad! They will be so far away. I have loved having them in Susanville.
