In February when basketball ended Nancy, the dogs and myself headed to Visalia for a four day weekend. I was sooo ready for a break from work and the snow. Aaron and Jacklyn had just bought a house and we were excited to see it. They are always great hosts so we knew it would be great. We left Thursday after work and drove to Barstow for the night. We stopped in Vegas to see Katie, let the dogs run around and stretch our feet. It was so good to give Katie a big hug.
We stayed in a very sketchy hotel but survived the night. We got on the road when we woke up in the morning and only had a short distance to travel to reach Visalia.
It was so fun to see Aaron's house and soak in the sunshine. My mom was also on her February break and so she joined us and then Ben brought his kids down on the Saturday to hang out.
The days were super slow. We hung out, played games, went on walks, took naps and relaxed. It was a perfect break for this time of year!
Summit was still so little here. It was so fun to travel with her for the first time. It was not easy and she did pee all over Nancy, but she did pretty great considering how little she was. Moki was a champion as always. I loved traveling with Moki. She was just such a great traveling companion. Ever as a puppy she was just so happy in the car as long as she was with her people. I though this would probably be her last road trip but we actually snuck one more in before I had to put her down. I am so glad she got to come and soak up the sun. She also demanded to go on every walk even though it was so hard for her. It was horrible to watch her limp but I had told myself at the start of this cancer journey I would never tell her now to a walk or a hike. She was made for those adventures. She joined us everyday on this trip.
I did not do a very good job of capturing the adults but they were all there. The trip back to Utah took forever. It was a very long day in the car and it was pretty miserable going to work the next day. It is a bummer that Aaron and Jacklyn live so far away now. It won't be possible to do shorter weekend trips and that is such a bummer!
