Redcrest to Standish-Hickey

At this point in the trip we were definitely away from the coast. The route takes you inland and it was HOT! This was July 1st and everyone was warning us that it was supposed to be 103 degrees. YUCK! It was extremely hot. Luckily this was one of our shorter days. Amber captured this shot as we were leaving Redcrest. There were not a lot of food options on the days away from the coast. This little store was abandon.
We climbed some big hills. In the morning and we were wearing ourselves out pretty good. We got to Garberville around lunch time and decided we might need a little swimming break.
I had to constantly remind myself that we were not in a hurry. We had all day, it is not a race. I got better at that as the week went on, but it's ok to stop. Swimming felt amazing. Then that lady wearing no clothes floated into our swimming hole and I had enough. Don't worry she walked right through the park with nothing but a skimpy pair of underwear on. Super weird. Luckily I didn't have any kids or I would have been forced to say something. We rested in Garberville through the heat of the day then hopped back on our bikes.

This is me after a giant hill. It was hot and I was tired.
We felt pretty good as the sun was going down and so we rode a little further than planned. This bathroom made me laugh. Yes that is a port a potty inside an actual bathroom. Weird???
 A cute little tree house
We ended up biking 53 miles this day. It was the smart thing to do because it made Wednesday 10 miles shorter and we were going to sleep in a real bed that day.

And last but not least a selfie with the redwood trees.
