After six days of hiking it was time for a rest day. We were exhausted. We were supposed to ride the bus and then hike a little ways but because we had had so many long days in a row it seemed best to take a true rest day. We just stayed on the bus for the whole trip. Although riding the bus in Switzerland on the mountain roads will give you a little bit of anxiety. You are on one way roads that are on very steep cliffs. There is a lot of horn honking and backing up. There are a lot of one way tunnels. There is road work and no workers that tell you when to stop and when to go. It felt like an adventure just being a passenger on the bus.
We stayed in the little resort town Grimentz. This was the view from the hotel room.
We ate some delicious pizza, took naps, and went on a long walk to let out bodies recover.
It was a beautiful little place. The entire city was on a hill in a canyon. Looking across the canyon to the otherdise we could see the city we would stay in the next night: St. Luc. We could also see the hike we would do.
The streets were narrow and very beautiful.
I really enjoyed watching the sun go down every evening.
It ended up being a great day to recover and it really was nice. There was no physical or emotional stress and so it truly ended up being relaxing.
