Day 2 was our day for Kings Canyon national Park. I had never even heard of this park until I was looking on a map and saw it. It bumps up against Sequoia National park. The elevation is quite a bit higher in this park and so not many trails were open. That was a definite bummer but we made the best of our day.
We started with a walk to the General Grant tree. This tree is the third tallest in the world. There were lots of crazy tall trees even in the parking lot.
Three Sequoia's in the parking lot.
The first look at the Grant Tree.

This loop was also very short and easy. I believe it was a 1/2 mile loop. This is also the day Moki decided she was over National Parks. Dogs aren't allowed on any trails in National Parks. I totally understand and support this rule. It is just hard for my dog who is used to hiking anywhere I hike. She barked the entire time we were hiking. It was awful because I could hear her.
Luckily for MOki the day got better for her. Since all the trails were covered in snow the Ranger suggested dropping down into the national Forrest and hiking arouns Hume Lake. This was a great suggestion. It was a beautiful almost 3 mile walk/hike that Moki could come on. You were close to the lake the entire time and it was gorgeous. We did the hike and then had our lunch at the lake.
This day we didn't do a ton of hiking. We drove around a little more and then headed back to Fresno because there just wasn't much hiking available. Some day I need to go hike more in Kings Canyon National Park.
